How far in advance should I order my dress?

Gowns are custom made to order and therefore the production process typically takes 4-6 months, but some designers offer a rush delivery at an additional charge. In addition, you should allow 2-3 months for alterations. We recommend ordering your gown no later than 9 months before your wedding (or bridal portraits) to allow enough time for ordering a custom length which will ultimately save you up to $1000 on alterations.

The short answer: the earlier you order your gown, the better!
